As the co-founder and Chief Scientist at Atomo Coffee, Jarret Stopforth continues to develop disruptive innovations in the food and beverage space. Prior to founding Atomo he co-founded and developed an alcohol alternative, Kin Euphorics to enable people to imbibe socially without the negative impacts of alcohol. He also contributed significantly to the success of bone broth startup, Kettle & Fire, where he served as the Chief Product Officer and meal replacement startup, Soylent, where he served as the VP, Product Integrity. Prior to his recent activities in disruptive and innovative startups Jarret held senior leadership roles at Chobani as the Sr. Director, Manufacturing Quality and at Campbell Soup Company as Sr. Manager, Operations Quality.
Jarret is an avid writer and has over 50 peer-reviewed publications in the field of science and has been invited internationally to speak on topics ranging from disruptive innovation to food safety. Jarret serves on a number of committees and is a scientific reviewer for two professional organizations. He actively mentors graduate students at the University of Washington Foster School of Business.
Jarret was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in South Africa where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in 2000 at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He subsequently completed his Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Food Science / Microbiology at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado in 2004.
Jarret is married to Tara Stopforth and has two children aged 5 (girl) and 3 (boy). He is an active outdoorsman who loves hiking, hunting and photography.
